Christine Daae is the main character in Gaston Leroux's horror novel entitled The Phantom of the Opera, in which she is a young singer who is taking lessons from a mysterious tutor. She becomes seduced by Erik, the Phantom and her teacher, and ultimately is torn between her loyalty to her Angel of Music and her childhood love, Raoul. In Love Never Dies, it becomes apparent that her love for the Phantom overrides any love she feels for her husband, Raoul.
